Summer Reading Club

A Summer Reading Club will take place at East Gippsland Shire Library these summer holidays.

Last year the Summer Reading Club was a huge success!

  • Over 55,000 children participated across Australia
  • More than 450,000 books were read.

The theme for the 2017 Summer Reading Club is GAME ON.  At East Gippsland Shire Library, Summer Reading Club activities will run from Friday 1 December 2017 to Wednesday 31 January 2018. Registration is free. When participants register at the library, they will receive a reading log, which allows them to collect small prizes as they read. Alternatively, they can also register through the Summer Reading Club website at www.summerreadingclub.org.au National prizes are also up for grabs for those who participate in the online activities.

Reading logs and registration forms are now available from the office, or from any East Gippsland Shire Library.  For more information on this year’s Summer Reading Club, please contact Jane Wembridge on 5152 4225 or email janew@egipps.vic.gov.au

East Gippsland Community Christmas Appeal

This Appeal provides food hampers and children’s gifts to East Gippsland families at Christmas. It is about locals looking out for locals, and acknowledging that Christmas can sometimes be a time of financial strain and not all families experience the joy of sharing a Christmas meal with family and friends.

Community Service Agencies refer families to the Christmas Appeal and hampers and gifts are given without judgement. It is an opportunity for the community to work together to share their best wishes at Christmas time.

You can help by donating gifts of non-perishable food, children’s gifts or money to support the appeal. These can be brought to the Bairnsdale Campus and added to the basket in the office. Alternatively, cash donations can be made at Uniting office, 49 McCulloch Street, Bairnsdale. Please contact Uniting Gippsland on 5152 9600 for further details.
