Looking for host families in Term 3 (4 weeks)

Each year we are delighted to welcome a group of female Year 11 students from our Sister School in Japan, Hikarigaoka Girls High School, to Gippsland Grammar. The exchange program is an important program in the School and a valuable aspect of the School experience for our students. Consequently, we need families to help in welcoming the Japanese students for four or two weeks into their homes.

They should be arriving on the second week of Term 3 and staying for about four weeks. If you are interested in hosting a student for the entire period of their stay or for half of their stay, please contact Ms Shinagawa via email, by Wednesday, 28 February, 2018.

The students will go to Garnsey Campus to enjoy schooling, but they will also visit both Bairnsdale Campus and St Anne’s.

There are two requirements to host a student.

  1. School requires every host family to provide a WWCC (Working with Children Check) for every member of the family above 18 years old who lives at home. You can apply online on the following website and follow the instructions  You will not be able to host until we receive either a card or an application number. There is no cost as you are volunteering to host.
  2. In accordance with new legislation, the School also requires every host family and those in the household who are over the age of 18 to be familiar with the content of our Child Protection and Safety Policy and our Child Safety Code of Conduct and their legal obligations with respect to the reporting of child abuse. This is achieved through completion of the eight Child safety training modules, completed online via a link provided to you by the School.

Please have a look at the two attachments and complete the Volunteer registration form on Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further information.
