Chamber Music Soiree
If Thursday evenings Chamber Music Soiree is any indication, the program presented by Gippsland Grammar students forecasts a very bright future.
A small but appreciative audience were treated to a broad range of musical genres. Ella Halket (Viola) and Mr Iversen (Violin) started off the evening performing Duet by Mazas Op. 38. The Flute Ensemble performed Quartet Movement and The Londonderry Air featuring Andrew Gray. Our piano trio featuring Timothy Valette (Violin), Emma Murphy (Cello) and Nikolas Valette (Piano) treated the audience to a spirited rendition of Jacksonmania by Nicholas Buc. This was followed by the Cello Ensemble performing Pachelbel’s Canon and The Sally Gardens.
The String Trio featuring Hanna Husodo (Violin), Sarah Husodo (Violin) and Emma Murphy (Cello) performed Haydn’s Divertimento beautifully. The Brass Ensemble then spirited us forward a couple of centuries with the Europe one hit wonder, The Final Countdown and Highlights from Grease.
The Gippsland Grammar String Quartet is beginning to gain some traction around town and have recently been asked to perform at community events. They will be performing at the Stratfords of the World Mayoral Reception. This evening the performed Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No 1 in Eb Major. We were then treated to a superb performance of Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio Op 49 featuring Ruby McNeill-Johnson (Violin), Enola Jefferis (Cello) and Irene Lee (Piano).
Unfortunately, Miss Chilcott was unavailable to lead the Saxophone Quartet so Lemoni Japhary led the group ably in their performances of Satin Doll, Blue Skies and Bohemian Rhapsody.
Congratulations to each of the performers for their dedication to rehearsals throughout the year and we can certainly look forward to hearing their progress at the end of the year.
Thank you to staff for their dedication to their groups and helping prepare such an enjoyable soiree.
