Head of St Anne's

In a recent visit to our Early Learning Centre, I noticed the Wellbeing Noticeboard, where parents can share strategies to improve family wellbeing. Suggestions include; having family outdoor time, family dinner time around the table (with the TV off), having two or three days technology free (again, no TV, phones, etc) for everyone, and many more ideas. Personally, I have noticed how technology can impact on my efforts to be more present with my family. As a School, we are in the process of outlining our definition of wellbeing and I look forward to sharing this soon with the School community.

Book Week Fellowship

This morning we were treated to a wonderful Fellowship from McCubbin, focusing on Book Week. McCubbin students shared how books take us on amazing adventures and teach us wonderful things. All students from Prep to Year 6 dressed up for the day in their favourite character from a book. Thank you to Mrs Roberts, Mrs Noble and students in McCubbin for organising another great Fellowship.

Commemoration Day

On Monday we celebrated Gippsland Grammar’s Commemoration Day at Garnsey Campus. The day celebrates when St Anne’s Girls School amalgamated with Gippsland Grammar Boys School in 1971. All students from Year 5 to Year 12 attended, with both the St Anne’s Singers and St Anne’s Concert Band performing. Guest speaker was Lindsay Tanner, who is an ex-student, ex-politician and current Essendon Football Club Board member. He shared with the captivated audience that a successful person is someone who can make a positive impact, not someone who is rich or famous. I am sure all students (and teachers) enjoyed their Commemoration Day cupcake to mark the occasion.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to parents and teachers for taking part in our Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Having open and honest conversations about your child’s social, emotional and academic progress are very important to our teachers.

Student Free Day - Friday 25 August

Next Friday is a student free day across all three campuses because of our Compliance Day. The day allows all staff of Gippsland Grammar to complete important First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma training.

Father’s Day Breakfast

We are having our Father’s Day Breakfast on Monday, 4 September in Lorna Sparrow Hall. We will have two sittings, one at 7.30am and another at 8.00am. Our Father’s Day Breakfast is a chance for our students to celebrate all the great things our Fathers and Special Adults do for us and to say thank you. A letter went home earlier this week with more information and an RSVP slip, which needs to be returned to school by Monday 28 August.

Art Exhibition Preview Evening

The St Anne’s Campus Art Exhibition will be held during September. A letter was sent home today inviting you to a Preview Evening, which will be held on Thursday, 7 September from 7.00pm until 9.00pm in Lorna Sparrow Hall. Entry is $10.00 per head and includes a refreshment and cheese platters. This is an adult only event. RSVPs should be made no later than Friday 1 September.

Enjoy your weekend,
