This morning our campus gathered for one of my favourite events of the year, the ELC Christmas Concert. Each year, our ELC students put together a Christmas Concert that includes wonderful costumes, songs and a great message. A big congratulations to all our ELC students who were involved. Behind the scenes, Mrs Lisa Burgess, Mrs Danielle Carpenter and the rest of their team have again weaved their magic to organise today. I know our students and ELC parents appreciate your efforts.
Our Year 12 Valedictory last Friday evening was not only an amazing event, but also gave me a personal snapshot of the ‘end product’ for students who come to Gippsland Grammar. During my second year at St Anne’s, I taught many of the graduating Year 12 students. All of our graduating students have matured into well rounded young adults. I wish them well in their future endeavours.
Year 4 Camp
Early this week, Year 4 students from both St Anne’s and Bairnsdale participated in an amazing camp in South Gippsland. Camp Rumbug is one of our favourites because of the picturesque setting overlooking Wilson’s Promontory, fantastic activities such as the ‘Mud Run’ and much more. I had the opportunity to spend the whole three days with our students. I love seeing students challenge themselves in the outdoors. Congratulations to our Year 4 students on your behaviour and willingness to engage in all activites.
On Thursday evening many of our talented musicians performed at our term 4 music soiree. The large audience was entertained by our Paganini Strings and students from Year 2 - Year 6. Logan Mills rendition of Ed Sheeren’s ‘Castle on the Hill’ really set the tone for the evening’s performance. A big thank you to Brett Glover, our Music Coordinator, and our instrumental teachers for the love of music you are instilling in our students.
Next week, some of our Year 5 students will be elected House Captain and Vice-Captain, via a speech and student voting. Interested students took home an application recently and have been busy preparing their speeches. Fostering student leadership is an integral part of life at St Anne’s and we treat our Year 6 leadership appointments with great importance. Our other Year 6 leadership positions will advertised and filled early next year.
