I hope that our parents and carers found this week’s Parent Teacher Interviews valuable and informative. From my perspective, it was great having that time to discuss how your child has settled in, set goals and share important information between parents and teachers.
Sale & District Swimming Carnival
Our swim team competed with great endeavour and sportsmanship at the Sale & District Swimming Carnival on Monday. St Anne’s ended up winning the carnival, along with four age champions - a tremendous effort.
I was able to spend time watching our swimmers in action. They were well coached by our Physical Education teacher, Mrs Simone Langshaw, who came in on her days off to coach the team in the lead up to the carnival. Amazingly, all of our swimmers have qualified for next week’s Wellington Division carnival on Tuesday, 5March.
The following students make up our swim team; Jack Crowe (Age champion), Charlie Price, Jonah Brown (Age champion), Molly Dettbarn, Zayden Burton (Age champion), Lily Canfield (Age champion), Will Murray, Teddy Ripper, Scarlett Tavasci, Obi Vardy, Makaylen Di Sisto, Blake Fairweather, Jessica Martin, Zoe Hoernlein, Himesh Rajapaske, Oak Czosnek, Billy Staples, Evie Humphris, Xanthe Wade, Gracie Millington, Kody Said, Cooper Beckman, Lola Van Berkel and Aliesha Turnbull. Good luck next week!
Stratford Pony Club Interschool Equestrian Challenge
We had a strong representation on Monday at the Sale & District Equestrian Carnival, held at the Sale Showgrounds. Having a strong farming community at our school, it is not surprising that we had many students competing to a high standard. Some riders were also part of our swim team and had to race (pardon the pun) between the showgrounds and pool. Students who competed were: Xaneth Wade, Zara Missen, Zara Stasinowsky, Joel Lamb, Matilda Charlie, Leah Roberts, Harry Gault and Millie Roach.
The team of Xanthe, Zara M and Harry Gault came fifth. Leah Roberts received Reserve Champion for Grade 6. Xanthe was Reserve Champion for Grade 4. The students competed in rider handler, pleasure mount classes, obstacle course, show jumping, games and fancy dress. All students picked up good placings in all classes.
THRASS Parent Information Session – 6 March
Our St Anne’s Spelling Information Session will be on Wednesday, 6 March at 9.00am in the new Year 3-4 Centre. This session is open to all parents of children at our ELC and Junior School. The sessions will be led by Mrs Tracey Grubb, our English Coordinator, and Mrs Michelle Sands, our school Speech Pathologist and teacher of Pathways. This session is an ideal opportunity to learn more about how spelling and word reading (decoding) at St Anne’s is taught. For parents who actively help their children with their reading and spelling, it would be very beneficial to attend this information session, as the approach is probably very different from the way in which you were taught.
New Building Official Opening and Open Day
I would like to extend an invitation to members of our school community to witness the official opening of our new Year 3-4 Learning Centre on Wednesday, 13 March at 10:30 am. Our formal opening of the building will include guest speaker and past Head of Campus, Mrs Elizabeth Board, musical performances and building blessing by our Bishop, Dr Richard Treloar.
Our new building is a contemporary learning space that will foster collaboration, make learning visible, and with a focus on sustainability. We will be opening up our new building to our school community on Friday, 15 March from 3:30 pm until 4:40 pm. This time will allow parents and carers the opportunity to explore our new learning space.
