Coding Club 

East Gippsland Shire Library will be running another round of Code Club at Bairnsdale Library in Term 4.  Code Club teaches basic computer coding and we will be developing basic games and animation using Scratch https://scratch.mit.edu/ 

This is a six week program. Participants are signing up for ALL six sessions.  The session dates are: 

•           Monday 16 October 

•           Monday 23 October 

•           Monday 30 October 

•           Monday 6 November 

•           Monday 13 November 

•           Monday 20 November 

 

Time: 4.00pm – 5.00pm 

Ages: 8 - 12 

Maximum: 8 participants 

Location: Bairnsdale Library 

 

Important: 

  • Participants will need to be confident, independent readers and must be at least 8 years old. 

  • Participants do not need to bring a device as the library training laptops will be used. 

Bookings are essential and can be made in person at the library or by phoning 5152 4225. 

 

East Gippsland Shire LEGO Club 

Junior LEGO enthusiasts are invited to attend our LEGO Club sessions. The supervised sessions will incorporate freestyle creativity and some themed construction activities.  Bookings are required. Bairnsdale Library, Tuesday 10 October, 4.00pm – 5.00pm. 

Princess Slippers: Beautiful Feet and Dress Up Night 

All women are invited to Princess Slippers: Beautiful Feet and Dress Up Night. Monday September 18th, 6pm-7:30pm in St John’s Church Hall, cnr Francis & Service Streets, Bairnsdale. This session of our series on “Princesses” will be a fun time sharing what it really means to be a princess. $2 entry donation, light supper provided. Brought to you by the Sisterhood of East Gippsland, a place for women to enjoy themselves, discover the beautiful Truth of who they are and band together with their Sisters to make a difference in our world. 

 

Bairnsdale Tennis Club 

It’s time to register for the junior tennis summer season, played during Term 4, 2017 and Term 1, 2018.  Registrations close on October 5 and teams will be published in the Bairnsdale News and on the clubhouse noticeboard. Registration forms are available from the school office or from the tennis club. 

 

Bairnsdale Golf Club Come and Try Month 

October is try golf month at the Bairnsdale Golf Club, Paynesville Road, Eagle Point.  Every Sunday in October, from 9.00-11.30am, people of all ages are welcome to try driving, hitting and putting with other beginners with the assistance of club members and the club professional, Wayne Thomas.  $10.00 per session, or $40.00 for the 5 Sundays, with equipment provided.  Please phone the club on 5156 6252 or email club@bairnsdalegolf.com.au to register.   

 

East Gippsland Waterdragons 

East Gippsland Waterdragons Swim Club is a fun and enjoyable swimming club that caters for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Club members come from all over East Gippsland, train with professional coaches at either Bairnsdale or Lakes Entrance, and compete in various race events. The club is hosting another Fun Session & Race Night for all new and interested swimmers on Friday 15th September at the Lakes Entrance Aquadome.  New swimmers and development squad at 5.00pm and races for all Waterdragons at 5.30pm.

Earn and Learn Stickers 

The Woolworths Earn and Learn program has begun once again and we ask you to please put the word out amongst your family and friends to collect the stickers for us. At the conclusion of the program we are able to trade these stickers for school resources.  Stickers can be left in the collection box at Woolworths or can be brought to school or the ELC. 

 

Summer Futsal 

Registrations Now Open!  Summer Futsal is back in 2017 with a ‘STREET’ feel! In keeping with the origins of Futsal, we are excited to announce ‘STREET FUTSAL’, our 5-a-side Summer Futsal competition, which will be played on the WORLD Centre courts.  Online registration process & season fees:

Outdoor Summer Soccer 

East Gippsland United Football Club start their summer series during the first week of Term 4.  Register online from August 28 to September 18 at www.eastgippslandunited.org.au Experienced and non-experienced players welcome in all divisions.

School Holiday Movie Screening – My Pet Dinosaur (PG) 

Join us for the screening of the Australian adventure family movie My Pet Dinosaur. When a young boy named Jake accidentally makes a new friend in an experiment gone wrong a trouble town is plunged into chaos. But with the creature rapidly evolving every day, Jake finds it increasingly difficult to keep his new pet secret. Rated PG – Mild themes and coarse language.  Bookings essential.

School Holiday Activity Session – Chalk Boards 

Come and join the library’s school holiday activity session and make and decorate a chalk board which you can keep. The activity session will include stories and games.

Xbox Gaming Day 

Come and play Xbox games on the big screen in Meeting Room 1 at Bairnsdale Library. This is not a supervised event and parents may consider staying with their younger children.  No bookings required.
